Reaching our Cities through the Power of the Printed Page

PROJECT: Metro America is a powerful evangelism program designed to assist the Seventh-day Adventist Church in taking the Three Angels’ Messages to every home in every major city in the U.S. through the bulk saturation mailing of life-changing, truth-filled literature. Utilizing two primary books, Steps to Christ and an abridged version of The Great Controversy, PROJECT: Metro America provides a fast, affordable, and effective way for the churches of North America to sow the seeds of eternal life, preparing the way for earth’s final harvest.

Each “Mailbox Missionary” contains a built-in response card with which each recipient can request additional life-changing materials, including free Bible studies and a wide selection of other free literature. Each book also provides internet resources where readers can find truth online. Seven additional Spirit of Prophecy books are also made available free of charge in subsequent offers made to each book reader.

PROJECT: Metro America can help the churches in your city:

  1. sow the gospel seed,

  2. develop new Bible study leads,

  3. discover and meet the felt-needs of your community,

  4. plant new churches, and

  5. ultimately prepare the way for Jesus’ soon return.

How the Program Works

STEP 1: Contact PROJECT: Steps to Christ
We will write-up a proposal for doing a mass mailing to the areas you specify, whether your city, county, or state. With the proposal, we will send you sample books and other promotional materials. When you are ready, we can send you additional proposals to share with other church ministry leaders in your area to recruit their interest and support. Never underestimate the power of one individual to help set in motion the movements of God’s Spirit in a mighty way. God may be calling you for just such a time as this.

STEP 2: Promotional Rallies
PROJECT: Steps to Christ will conduct free city-wide promotional rallies in your city to inspire church members with the possibility of reaching every home in their city with a PROJECT: Metro America mailing. Individuals are needed who can help organize these rallies in area churches. PROJECT: Steps to Christ will provide all necessary promotional materials at no charge. These rallies are a key to opening the doors for launching the project in your city.

STEP 3: Organization
Volunteer team leaders are needed in your city that will help:

  1. Organize prayer groups that will cover your city and the project
    with prayer 24/7
  2. Coordinate ongoing promotions and fundraising in each church
  3. Develop short and long-term follow-up strategies for spiritual interests generated from your mailing

STEP 4: Prayer
On an individual, church, and conference level, members are praying daily for the city and the project. This is a most essential ingredient to the success of PROJECT: Metro America. “Only the work accomplished with much prayer, and sanctified by the merit of Christ, will in the end prove to have been efficient for good.” Desire of Ages, p. 362. STEP 5: Promotions & Fundraising
One of the incredible advantages of this program, besides the speed of delivery and the coverage it gives, is the cost. For as little as 45 cents per home, your church can help reach every home in your city. This price includes the cost of the book, postage and handling, and all the free materials offered inside.

Another essential ingredient to the success of this program is that of keeping the project continually before the churches. Each church should select a project leader who can do this on a weekly basis. PROJECT: Steps to Christ can supply promotional materials at no charge for this purpose, including brochures, bulletin inserts, DVDs, etc.

STEP 6: Design, Printing, & Mailing
PROJECT: Steps to Christ’s graphic designers will work with your project team leaders in customizing the book that will be mass mailed to your city. Your book can be designed to reflect the character of your city. This customization will help recipients identify with and open the book. There is no design charge for customization on mailings of 200,000 homes or more.
From start to finish, the design, printing, and mailing of the books for your city can take as little as three months, depending on the quantity of books mailed.

STEP 7: Reaping the Harvest
The realization that every home in your city has been given the opportunity to hear the truth for this time is truly an exhilarating one. But even more exciting is seeing the initial response generated from your mailing as people respond to the many free offers found in each booklet. Although the primary purpose of this mailing is to sow the gospel seed in preparation for the work of the Latter Rain, there will be an immediate work to do in following-up on these interests. This can take the form of a personal call or visit, an invitation to personal or group Bible studies or other types of outreach meetings. Ultimately God makes Himself responsible for the success of your labors. If we lie humble and believing at His feet, thousands will be converted in a day, many of whom will trace their first convictions to the reading of our publications.

Reaching the Masses
in the Shadow of Impending Doom

The spiritual darkness that covers the whole earth today, is intensified in the crowded centers of population. It is in the cities of the nations that the gospel worker finds the greatest impen-itence and the greatest need....

 

The record of crime and iniquity in the large cities of the land is appalling. The wickedness of the wicked is almost beyond comprehension. Many cities are becoming a very Sodom in the sight of heaven. The increasing wickedness is such that multitudes are rapidly approaching a point in their personal experience beyond which it will be exceedingly difficult to reach them with a saving knowledge of the third angel's message. The enemy of souls is working in a masterful manner to gain full control of the human mind; and what God's servants do to warn and prepare men for the day of judgment, must be done quickly.

 

The conditions that face Christian workers in the great cities, constitute a solemn appeal for untiring effort in behalf of the millions living within the shadow of impending doom. Men will soon be forced to great decisions, and they must have opportunity to hear and to understand Bible truth, in order that they may take their stand intelligently on the right side. God is now calling upon His messen-gers in no uncertain terms, to warn the cities while mercy still lingers, and while multitudes are yet suscep-tible to the converting influence of Bible truth.
